Are Trivial Things Distracting You From What Is Actually Important?

Charles Bukowski was an absolute legend. He could provide more thought-provoking value in 25 words than I can in 25 articles.

“People are strange: They are constantly angered by trivial things, but on a major matter like totally wasting their lives, they hardly seem to notice.”

Charles Bukowski

He is absolutely right. We as a society often let trivial things bother us. We often neglect what is important in favor of trivial nonsense.

Sometimes it’s a social media post that we would be better off ignoring.

Sometimes it’s stressing about a news story we have no power to influence.

Sometimes our wounded pride won’t let us drop a silly argument and agree to disagree.

I’m not foolish enough to suggest ignoring all trivial things is possible. We are all human, and emotions will get the better of us at times. But make sure the little things don’t get in the way of the big things.
